Modern physiotherapy is no longer limited to exercises and massages . It increasingly incorporates advanced technologies that help the body regenerate faster, more effectively, and more safely. One such solution is TECAR therapy , also known as contact diathermy . This modern form of physical therapy uses radiofrequency energy to activate natural tissue repair processes. What is TECAR therapy?
TECAR (Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive) therapy utilizes radio waves with frequencies ranging from 300 kHz to 1 MHz. It is a non-invasive form of deep tissue therapy that involves the transfer of electromagnetic energy into the body via electrodes: one active and one passive.
During the treatment, tissues generate heat internally due to biological resistance. As a result:

When should TECAR therapy be avoided?
Although TECAR therapy is very safe, not every patient can benefit from it. The most important contraindications include:
- the presence of pacemakers or other active electronic implants,
- pregnancy (especially in the first trimester),
- active cancer or oncological treatment,
- thrombosis, coagulation disorders, risk of embolism,
- open wounds, active infections or skin lesions at the treatment site,
- metal implants in the electrode field of action,
- sensory disorders, e.g. peripheral neuropathy.
