As we know, numbness in the legs can be caused by sitting in one position for too long. However, when it occurs too often and in other circumstances, it may warn against more serious spine diseases.

Hip pain, in turn, is another serious problem that must be quickly diagnosed and treated to restore the proper range of motion.

What is leg numbness?

This is a characteristic feeling of unpleasant tingling in the legs, which may appear along with swelling, burning and pain.

This symptom results from impaired nerve conduction in the lower limbs and may be temporary, transient or chronic. If you experience repeated numbness, contact your doctor as soon as possible to find out the cause.

What can numbness in my legs be?

Very often, numbness in the lower limbs indicates discopathy, i.e. degenerative disease of the intervertebral disc.

As a result of damage to the lower spine, namely the lumbar and sacral vertebrae, numbness in the legs and feet may occur.

Another disease indicated is joint degeneration, when the articular cartilage in the hip joint and spine is destroyed. In addition, numbness in the legs may also indicate Paget's disease or even bone cancer.

Causes of numbness of the lower extremities

  • discopathy,
  • hernia,
  • straining the spine,
  • wrong sitting position,
  • slouching,
  • staying in one position for a long time,
  • nerve damage
  • pressure on the nerve,
  • atherosclerosis,
  • autoimmune diseases,
  • Weightlifting,
  • obesity,
  • deficiency of vitamin B, magnesium and calcium.

How to cure discopathy?

In the early stages of the degenerative disease, medications will help rehabilitation and exercises under the supervision of a physiotherapist.

After learning the basics exercises for numbness in the legs from the spine, you can do them yourself at home.

However, if the discopathy is more advanced, it may require spine surgery.

What is hip pain characterized by?

Hip pain is usually felt in the lower back, legs and sacroiliac joints. It leads to incorrect walking and poor body posture, because it causes us to avoid putting weight on one of the painful limbs.

Typically, more severe pain does not subside with rest and may even worsen at night. Additionally, it may be accompanied by a feeling of muscle weakness, dizziness, nausea and nausea.

The causes of hip joint dysfunction

  • inflammations,
  • hip joint degeneration,
  • fracture of the femur,
  • hip dislocation,
  • contusion of the hip,
  • dysplasia,
  • excessive physical activity,
  • pressure on the nerve,
  • sciatica and femur,
  • Parthes disease.

Treatment of hip pain

The primary treatment for hip pain recommended by most doctors is rehabilitation, aimed at restoring full range of motion, relieving strained muscles and reducing pain.

During rehabilitation and exercises under the supervision of a therapist, it is recommended to use kinesio taping patches, which increase comfort during movements and everyday activities.

Additionally, it is recommended to undergo treatments that stimulate natural anti-inflammatory processes, such as cryotherapy, magnetotherapy or ultrasound.
